Creamy head. Full bodied golden lager. Softly textured. Creamy malt background. Late hoppy dryness. A beautifully balanced beer. Classic pils profile. Traditional double decoction pils, lagered for up to 8 weeks. The hoppy dryness makes for a good aperitif. Or serve it like a Chardonnay, with fish. The lagers of South Bohemia often accompany freshwater fish, typically carp, from the local lakes. There are endless local recipes. Perhaps the favorite is to serve the fish in breadcrumbs. Dark brown to black. Good malt character and some vanilla creaminess. Dense creamy head. Oily richness. Flavors reminiscent of bitter chocolate. Long, cedary, dry, smoky finish. Have this one with a good cigar. : Classic lager of Schwarzbier style, brewed from 4 malts and lagered for up to 10 weeks. Excellent complement to a fine steak dinner, great with wild game, marinated meats like brisket in dark sauces (Austrian Tafelspitz or German Sauerbraten), or together with a rich chocolate dessert and with a after dinner cigar. Excellent without any of these too...

Since the 15th century beer has been brewed commercially in Březnice, a small town 60 kilometers south of Prague. In this century, the Březnice brewery, originally part of a (now fully restored) castle formerly owned by the Kolowraty nobility, has produced and distributed excellent beer throughout Bohemia – today’s Czech Republic.
Following WWII, the brewery, or pivovar in Czech, was appropriated by the Government and became part of the state-owned Institute for Brewing and Malt Production, which insured continued traditions of classic Bohemian brewing. Now Pivovar Herold Březnice is operating under its first truly private ownership since 1945.
As a small, traditional brewery, we value each and every customer – we wish to satisfy each and every one of our buyers and our drinkers. Quite simply, Herold is committed to the highest level of service, both for its Czech and international customers. Our beer is fresh – from tank to shelf in less than six weeks and we fully guarantee our product. We brew custom beers for special market tastes, and guarantee every beer. We also profit from the cost advantages of traditional production with the highest quality ingredients in the Czech Republic, the original home of pilsener-style beers. Our "small is beautiful" philosophy ensures satisfaction for each customer: wholesale and retail alike.
Pivovar Herold produces a full assortment of classic Pilsner-style lagered beers, all of which exhibit excellent color, a full head and full-bodied, with well-balanced, flavors. Herold beers are neither too bitter nor too sweet and appeal to a broad range of tastes. All of our beers are produced using traditional technology, the finest Czech hops and malts, and superior spring water that is drawn from the grounds of the Březnice castle connected to the brewery. The result is the best example of classic Czech lagers, and unlike some big breweries, we still do it by hand using classic brewing tradition.
